GE X500 16MP 15x Optical/6x Digital Zoom HD Camera (Refurbished)Refurbished means "to make neat, clean, or complete, as by renovating, re-equipping, or restoring," says the World English Dictionary. What's wrong with neat, clean, and complete? Nothing really, but what does that have to do with a camera? Well, if you think you'd like an unclean, incomplete camera, you should get some help. "Refurbished" begs the question – can something be just "furbished"? Yes, it can. To furbish is "to make bright by polishing; burnish to improve the appearance or condition of; renovate; restore," says the ever-helpful World English Dictionary. Hey, that's almost the same thing, furbish and refurbish. So what's with the "re"? Maybe you wouldn't buy something that's only been furbished once. Maybe it has to be furbished twice before you're interested, like a twice-baked potato or a double take on the street. Sometimes the first take doesn't "take," you know? In the technical sense, refurbished just means the product can't be sold as new, because it's been returned to the factory for some minor reason (often no reason) and it's been checked out by a trained factory tech. And as you know, to be a trained factory tech, you have to have a degree in furbishing. So that's where the term comes from. Yours today from Overrunz – a camera so nice it's been furbished twice.
